Shubman Gill praises his “great team”

The Indian cricket team, consisting of primarily young players is on a tour of Zimbabwe. The T20I series has 5 matches in total, out of which 3 have been played. The fairly young team India is doing well, losing the first match but winning the other two played till now. ndia vs Zimbabwe T20I 4: Shubman Gill praises his “great team”.

The India tour of Zimbabwe started on 6 July with a T20 match between the two teams at Harare sports club. In the first match, India won the toss, yet lost the match by 13 runs. In the second match, India scored a whopping 234/2 in 20 overs. Zimbabwe got restricted to a total score of 134 runs, losing the match by a huge margin. In the 3rd match India scored 182/4 in the first innings. In the second innings, Zimbabwe scored 159/6, losing the match by 23 runs.

The fourth match was played at the same venue. However, there is a shift in the Indian team as Avesh Khan is no longer in today’s playing XI. India won the toss, and opted to bowl first. Zimbabwe scored 152/7 and the men in blue chased the score, getting 156/0 in 15.2 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal became the Player Of The Match.

“This is a great team” Shubman Gill says

Today’s match was undoubtedly a thrilling performance given by the young Yashasvi Jaiswal in the batting, while the bowlers did what grey did best.

After winning the match, team India’s captain Shubman Gill addressed the audience in the post match ceremony.

Shubman emphasised how important it was for the team to win a match while chasing runs. India lost the first match against Zimbabwe while chasing runs, after which they won 2 matches after batting first.

“Chasing was one thing we were talking about because we were not able to do that in the first T20. It feels good but the job is not done, we have one more game.” Shubman said.

Gill also spoke well of his boys, claiming it to be a “great” team. Speaking about whether the lineup is expected to shift in the final match of the series, Shubman said that he has not discussed it with the coach yet.

“This is a great team. I haven’t had the discussion with the coach and if there are any changes then I will let you know at the toss.” He added.

iPad support has arrived for the Nintendo emulator Delta with its latest update

iPad support has arrived for the Nintendo emulator Delta with its latest update

Good news for anyone who’s been waiting for a better way to run the Delta game emulator on an iPad — with version 1.6, which is available now, iPad support is here. The latest update is a major one, not only bringing a version of the emulator that’s optimized for iPad, but also seamless switching between iPhone and iPad, some improvements to DS compatibility, new skins and menu button gestures, and a new logo. (Delta had to scrap its old logo after Adobe threatened to sue over similarities to its signature ‘A’).

The Delta version 1.6 update is live on both the App Store and the AltStore PAL. It comes barely three months after Delta creator Riley Testut promised iPad support was on the way, and will allow for both full screen play and multiple windows using Stage Manager and Split View. Before you run and download it, though, take note of the devs’ warnings about DS games: “This update is incompatible with existing DS save states. Please save normally in-game before updating to avoid losing progress.” The Delta team has also created a new app, Delta Legacy, to help users migrate their save states. Instructions for the process are on the Delta website.

Three presumptive bird flu cases reported in poultry workers in Colorado

Three presumptive bird flu cases reported in poultry workers in Colorado

Colorado has reported three presumptive cases of H5 bird flu virus infection in poultry workers, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday.

The three people experienced mild symptoms, the CDC said in a statement. The infections occurred in workers who were culling infected animals at a poultry facility that was experiencing an outbreak of H5N1 bird flu, it said.

The symptoms included conjunctivitis, or pink eye, and common respiratory infection symptoms, Colorado officials said in a statement, adding that none of the people were hospitalized.

State epidemiologists said the infections appear to have occurred through contact with infected poultry.

The CDC said it is sending a team to Colorado to support an investigation and that the risk to the general public remains low.

Human infections with H5N1 avian flu are concerning because of the potential to cause severe disease and possibly spark a pandemic if the virus were to change and acquire the ability to spread easily from person to person, the CDC said.

The cases are part of a far-reaching outbreak of H5N1 bird flu that has been spreading globally in wild birds, infecting poultry and various species of mammals and causing an outbreak in U.S. dairy cows.

“There are no signs of unexpected increases in flu activity otherwise in Colorado, or in other states affected by H5 bird flu outbreaks in cows and poultry,” the CDC said.

Preliminary testing by Colorado officials showed the three were infected with a novel type of influenza and are presumed to have bird flu. Samples have been sent to the CDC for confirmatory testing.

If positive, they would represent the fourth case of bird flu in Colorado and the seventh U.S. case of the virus since March.

There has been one H5N1 case in a human being after exposure to poultry since 2022, the CDC says on its website. That prior case was in reported on April 28, 2022. There have been four cases in humans after exposure to dairy cows since 2022. All the dairy cow cases were this year.

The CDC said findings from their investigation will inform whether guidance changes are needed. An analysis of the virus sequences from this outbreak also will be important to determine if a change in the risk assessment is warranted.

The CDC said its recommendations with regard to H5N1 remain unchanged and urged people to avoid close, prolonged or unprotected exposure to sick or dead animals, including wild birds, poultry, other domesticated birds, and other wild or domesticated animals, including cows.

People should also avoid unprotected exposures to animal feces, litter, unpasteurized or raw milk, or materials that have been near or touched by animals with suspected or confirmed bird flu, it said.

OpenAI whistleblowers have filed a complaint with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, calling for an investigation over the artificial intelligence company’s allegedly restrictive non-disclosure agreements, the Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing a copy of the letter sent to the SEC.

The whistleblowers alleged that OpenAI issued overly restrictive employment, severance and nondisclosure agreements to its employees, which could have led to penalties against workers who raised concerns about OpenAI to federal authorities, according to the newspaper.

The AI company made employees sign agreements that required them to waive their federal rights to whistleblower compensation, according to the letter seen by the Washington Post.

The agreements also required that employees get prior consent from the company if they wanted to disclose information to federal regulators, the newspaper said, adding that OpenAI did not create exemptions in the employee nondisparagement clauses for disclosing securities violations to the SEC.

An SEC spokesperson said in an emailed statement that it does not comment on the existence or nonexistence of a possible whistleblower submission.

OpenAI did not immediately respond to requests for a comment on the Washington Post report.

OpenAI’s chatbots with generative AI capabilities, such as engaging in human-like conversations and creating images based on text prompts, have stirred safety concerns as AI models become powerful.

OpenAI in May formed a Safety and Security Committee that will be led by board members, including CEO Sam Altman, as it begins training its next artificial intelligence model.

Delhi court reveals startling details of 2000 match-fixing scandal as ‘Hanse Cronje agreed to fix the score of Herschelle Gibbs’

A court in New Delhi has revealed some startling facts related to the infamous 2000 match-fixing scandal that had rocked and tainted the gentlemen’s game. The court has also framed charges against four individuals, accusing them of cheating and criminal conspiracy.

The match-fixing was done during South Africa‘s tour of India with former Proteas captain Hansie Cronje as one of the main accused. Apart from Cronje, former South Africa cricketers Herschelle Gibbs, Nicky Boje, and Pieter Strydom’s names were involved in the scandal as well.

During the hearing, the court stated that some matches of the India-South Africa Test and ODI series were fixed, and attempts were made to fix other fixtures too. The match-fixing scandal took place during the two Tests and five ODIs between February 19 and March 19.

Delhi court on 2000 match-fixing scandal:

The court revealed the details of the recorded conversation between Cronje and London-based bookie Sanjeev Chawla. In 2000, the Delhi police had managed to get their hands on the recording of the conversation between Cronje and Chawla by intercepting the calls.

Referring to the recorded conversation before the fifth and final ODI between India and South Africa, the court observed that, “it is evident that Hansie Cronje had agreed to fix the score of the match, and he had also agreed to fix the individual score of Herschelle Gibbs.

“He had also spoken to Williams to give more than 50 runs in his 10 overs. Both were promised USD 15000 each.

“Though the players forgot about the deal in the heat of the game and did not play as per agreed terms, it can be concluded that a serious attempt was made to fix the match.

“From the recorded conversations, it is revealed that between the accused persons, large amounts of foreign exchange has also changed hands through hawala dealings for onward payment to the South African members who were part of the criminal conspiracy,” the court  added.

The 2000 match-fixing episode is one of the biggest scandals in the game that had completely rocked the cricketing fraternity. Cronje was sacked as the South Africa captain and was banned for life before he tragically passed away in a plane crash.

On the other hand, Chawla was extradited to India in 2000. Later in 2013, the Delhi police filed an FIR for the match-fixing scandal and the chargesheet included several South African cricketers including Cronje.

CPI(M) leader murdered in Tripura; statewide shutdown called on Sunday | India News

SP of South Tripura Ashok Kumar Sinha told PTI that he was attacked by a group of people, who are yet to be identified, on Friday evening.

CPI (M) leader Badal Shill who was critically injured in an attack in South Tripura’s Rajnagar area died while undergoing treatment at a hospital on Saturday, police said.

The opposition CPI(M) alleged that Shill, a zilla parishad candidate in the panchayat polls, was murdered by BJP-backed goons, and called a 12-hour statewide bandh on Sunday.

SP of South Tripura Ashok Kumar Sinha told PTI that he was attacked by a group of people, who are yet to be identified, on Friday evening.

“Police visited the spot immediately after coming to know about the incident. The victim was not in a condition to tell the police anything. However, we lodged a suo motu case. An investigation is underway,” he said.

Shill was attacked by a group of men with a ‘dao’ or machete, sticks and other weapons at Rajnagar market, his family alleged.

AIG (Law and Order) Ananta Das said Shill died while undergoing treatment at the state-run GB Pant Hospital in Agartala.

“His post-mortem examination has been completed and the body will be handed over to his family,” he said.

Shill had on July 11 filed nomination papers for the panchayat elections.

CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury, who is also the leader of the opposition in the assembly, said Shill had received severe head injuries in the attack.

“This is not the death of Badal Shill, it is the murder of democracy by the BJP. I appeal to the people to protest this brutal murder and save the democracy,” he said.

Left Front convenor Narayan Kar said the statewide bandh would begin at 6 am, and continue till 6 pm.

The ruling BJP could not be reached for a comment despite repeated attempts.

Panchayat elections will be held in the state on August 8, and the votes will be counted on August 10.

Ishan’s presence at the high-profile wedding alongside the legendary Dhoni is significant. After a brief hiatus with BCCI, Ishan’s recent exclusion from the BCCI’s central contract list has raised eyebrows, with the young wicket-keeper batter facing criticism for his lack of participation in domestic cricket.

This comes from his poor form in recent matches, leading to concerns about his place in the team, especially after the T20 World Cup 2024. The BCCI’s strict stance on mandatory domestic cricket participation has also come under scrutiny, with Kishan and Shreyas Iyer facing the consequences of their decisions to date.
