If you want to grab the attention of Gen Zers, ads relating to sporting events are one of the best ways to unlock their spending potential, according to a new study.
Some 49% of 18-24 year-olds say they notice advertising during sporting events, making them a lucrative target for advertisers, according to out of home media and infrastructure company Clear Channel UK.
The study of 2,000 respondents conducted via OnePoll also revealed that Gen Z’s the age group that says they’re most likely to purchase a product after repeated exposure to an ad during a sporting event (42%), followed by 25-34 year-olds (27%) and 35-44-year-olds (24%).
A significant proportion (32%) of 18-24 year-olds say their perception of a brand improves after seeing it advertised during a major sporting event, as do 28% of 25-3 year-olds. Similarly, 24% of Gen Zers are inspired to learn more about products advertised during sporting events and nearly half (46%) trust the brand more.
One in four 18-24 year-olds and 27% of 25-34 year-olds bought products advertised during sporting events because of positive association with the event.
Other key findings show Gen Zers are more likely to purchase fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs) on the same day after seeing it advertised during a sporting event (15%) than if they were exposed to the same product through regular advertising (12%).
Also brand trust (25%), brand recognition (20%), positive association with events (15%), emotional appeal (13%) and brand prestige (13%) were named as key drivers for purchasing a product people saw advertised at a sporting event.
Ben Hope, Marketing Director at Clear Channel UK, said: “Gen Z… are fast becoming a major force in the consumer market [and] while their attention span is known to be the lowest, the data from our study shows that, surprisingly, they are more receptive to advertising than older generations during sporting events.”

Photographer and mini-movie maker Maris Jones is obsessed with creating “distorted nostalgia” in her art.
“I feel like I call it ‘distorted nostalgia,’ because I just truly feel like that’s exactly what it is,” Jones said. “I’m so fascinated by the idea of romanticism and how it manifests when we tap into nostalgia and memories and any notion of the past.”
Jones has made a name for herself creating highly stylized films that she directs, acts, edits, lights, and animates herself.
Recently, Jones also collaborated with Chappell Roan for her set at Governor’s Ball and her performance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
For the latest episode of The Who What Wear Podcast, Jones shares how she puts together her projects, why she decided to write a book, the best places to find vintage clothes, and more.
For excerpts from their conversation, scroll below.
You’re an artist in every sense of the word. You’re best known for captivating, highly stylized videos or “mini movies,” as you call them. You don’t just direct and act in them. You edit, light, and animate them. You’re kind of a Renaissance woman who does the entire thing. I’m curious how you became interested in all of these different art forms and how they come together to create a final product?
I’m a final results person. I often urge people to think of what they want an outcome to be, rather than how they’re going to achieve it because it takes away the pressure unless you kind of just go for it.
I think, naturally, just by being somebody who wanted to have an end result, it ended up having me develop all these skills.
If I had started just right from the beginning, say, “Hey, I want to start being a one-woman film crew.” I don’t think I would have found the interest in the way that I have now.
I never set out to be an artist in this sense and I’ve always been someone who loved creating, in general, which, ultimately, did lead me to where I am today and where I should be. I don’t know if I would have naturally gotten there.
In the book, I often discuss how if you declare your goals from the start, you might miss out on all the little things along the way that make you uniquely you. I call them also “happy accidents.”
When I embark on a creative endeavor, we often put so much weight into it, that I often feel like it just becomes daunting from the start.
How my journey started… it was such a slow, natural progression that eventually became second nature to me.
You describe the worlds you build as “distorted nostalgia,” which, from looking at your work, feels very accurate. For those who might be newer to following you, can you explain what that means and how you developed this distinctive style?
I feel like I call it “distorted nostalgia” because I just truly feel like that’s exactly what it is.
I’m so fascinated by the idea of romanticism and how it manifests when we tap into nostalgia and memories and any notion of the past.
Often, we view the past through a lens shaped by TV shows, movies, advertisements, photos, or old photographs that we see because we can’t see other people’s memories and also we, ourselves, can only fit so much information in our own heads.
We eventually lose our own memories of what a time period looked like in ways, because we got to fit new stuff into our heads.
As a result, I feel like our perception of the past ends up resembling those images in our minds as they’re just primary references and we are shaped by these things.
We grew up with what we’re exposed to, and we love nostalgia as humans. It drives us.
Nostalgia is really linked to feeling and how we want to feel when we think of a time period.
Do you do a lot of your sourcing more online, would you say, or are you IRL at different stores, vintage stores, or thrift stores?
At this point, I do a lot of sourcing on Facebook Marketplace. I feel like that’s a great place because it is people just trying to get rid of things quickly.
Sometimes people have a lot of cool things. I do go on eBay and Etsy and Depop and all that stuff.
It can be overpriced. You don’t know what you’re always getting and stuff like that. It’s good to always go into stores.
Although, I will say that since I am in Brooklyn, it’s curated and all the good stuff is already gone.
Sometimes, it’s better for me to go elsewhere.
If you want to find good vintage, Facebook Marketplace is probably the best call at this point. I used to do stores way more.

When you think of the iconic Mary Janes, what comes to mind? They’re the kind of shoes that take me right back to my childhood, sitting at Flat Creek Church of Christ in my Sunday best. These shoes are back in a big way but with a grown-up twist. Today, I’m showing off some of my favorite Mary Jane shoes to buy now. Whether you’re dressing up for a night out or just need something cute and comfy for everyday wear, there’s something here for everyone. Let’s dive in and find your next pair of must-have shoes!

Mary Jane Shoes Are Trending This Fall
Square-toed shoes have a unique, modern look with their sharp, squared-off toe, which sets them apart from the usual rounded or pointed styles. Whether you’re rocking them with jeans or a dress, square-toed shoes add a cool, contemporary touch to any outfit. They’re surprisingly comfortable, giving your toes a bit more room to breathe.
These fiery red Mary Jane flats are so stinking cute!!! They would probably look cuter if I had buckled the strap. Lol! They have a square toe, which is super popular this fall. These are feminine and can be worn with dresses as well as jeans. Wearing red shoes might be out of your comfort zone, but don’t fret since these are also available in black and vanilla. This is a great way to incorporate the Mary Jane shoe trend into your wardrobe and look modern and fresh.
Chunky Heel Mary Janes
These black Mary Janes with chunky heels are way cooler than the ones I used to wear to church, Gurls! I love how they incorporate a touch of retro style. The thick heel gives you that extra height without the foot pain that comes with high heels, and the buckle strap keeps them securely on your feet. These are perfect for pairing with trousers or a chic outfit for a night out. And can we talk about the versatility? Whether you’re heading to dinner or the office, these little black shoes are sure to be a staple in your closet.
Flat Mary Jane Shoes
Now, these brown Mary Jane flats are all about comfort and style! If you’re someone who’s always on the go, these are your new best friend. They have a soft fabric and a flexible sole for more comfortable walking. Hey, you can’t wear sneakers every day. Plus, the classic brown color is so easy to pair with everything from jeans to skirts. I think these would be perfect for those days when you want to keep it casual but still look put together. And for those of us who are always battling blisters, the arch-supporting footbed is a lifesaver! Ballet flats are huge and on-trend.
These Sam Edelman nude Mary Janes are too cute! The nude color is fantastic for elongating the leg, especially when you’re wearing a dress or skirt. These have a slender heel that’s just the right height for adding a little elegance without compromising on comfort. The patent leather finish gives them that extra bit of polish, making them perfect for weddings, parties, or even a fancy dinner date with Joe! And don’t you love how they can match any outfit in your wardrobe? A true closet staple.
Unique Mary Jane Shoes
Now, here’s a pair of Mary Janes that really caught my eye—tweed fabric, how unique! These are the kind of shoes that scream ‘fall fashion.’ I can picture myself wearing these with a cozy sweater and some blue denim. The tweed adds a bit of texture and interest, and the flat sole means you can wear them all day. These shoes are perfect for those days when you want to look stylish without trying too hard. Plus, the cute little strap ties the whole look together!
Mary Jane shoes don’t have to be boring! These dotted Mary Jane flats are adorable and are perfect for the moto shoe trend. If you’re looking for something fun and playful, this pair is for you. The polka dots add a dash of whimsy, and the flat sole means you can wear them all day without a care in the world. I can see myself chasing after the grandkids in these! They’d look darling with a casual outfit, like jeans and a comfy top. And don’t forget, Gurls, flats like these are perfect for adding a bit of flair to your everyday footwear rotation.
Modern Mary Jane Shoes
For my Gurls who love a sleek and sophisticated look, these black pointy Mary Janes are just the ticket! The pointed toe gives them a modern edge, and the buckled strap adds a touch of classic charm. These shoes are perfect for when you want to elevate your outfit without wearing full-on high heels. I think they’d be a great choice for a night out with the hubby or even a meeting where you want to feel confident and stylish. Plus, that black color is timeless—these will never go out of trend!
Again, NOT boring. These Mary Jane mules are from Naturalizer, a brand known for comfort. They’re like the perfect marriage between sandals and Mary Janes, with an open back that makes them super easy to slip on and off. The footbed is cushioned and supportive, making them good for those long days on your feet. And the neutral color means they’ll go with just about anything in your closet. A true win-win!
High Heel Mary Jane Shoes
These Adrienne Vittadini Mary Jane slingback pumps just scream elegance, if elegance screamed, lol. The slingback design adds a touch of sophistication, and the heel height is perfect for adding a bit of lift without sacrificing comfort. I love the idea of wearing these to a special event. The sleek design and chic look make them a standout piece in any shoe collection. Plus, the strap means they stay put while you’re dancing the night away!
Last but not least, these very high Mary Jane pumps from New York and Company are for my Gurls who aren’t afraid of a little height! These shoes are all about making a statement. The high heel gives you legs for days, and the buckled strap adds that classic Mary Jane charm. I’d suggest wearing these with a dress or skirt for a night out on the town. Just be sure to take it slow if you’re not used to wearing such high heels—they’re worth the extra effort!
What do you think of my favorite Mary Jane Shoes?
So, Gurls, there you have it—my top picks for Mary Jane shoes. Whether you’re looking for something comfy and casual or a pair that’ll make you feel like a million bucks, there’s something here for everyone. I hope you find the perfect pair (or two, ha!) to add to your collection. What do you think? Yes to Mary Janes or are you leaving them in the past?

Jewellery brand Abbott Lyon is sponsoring ITV2’s new reality series Olivia Attwood’s Bad Boyfriends. The link is an obvious one, given the series is being fronted by one of the luxury jewellery brand’s ambassadors Attwood.
Set across 12 episodes, the new series is running across ITV2 and ITVX, and sees badly behaved boyfriends receive a shock as their holiday is interrupted when their long-suffering girlfriends arrive on the Greek Island with Attwood in tow.
Abbott Lyon’s sponsorship “aligns perfectly with the brand’s ethos of empowering individuals to express their true selves” it said.
And the sponsorship will include bespoke idents during the nightly episodes showcasing the brand’s latest pieces.
Jezz Skelton, CEO and founder of Abbott Lyon, said: “The show’s fun, energetic and transformative spirit mirror our brand’s commitment to helping people feel confident and unique in their style. We believe this sponsorship will resonate strongly with our audience, and we can’t wait to see how the series unfolds.”
Sponsorship of reality shows has become a key part of the marketing drive for a variety of brands across fashion, beauty and many more categories in recent years.

I can’t stop thinking about Nicole Kidman’s voluminous waves at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. To be fair, her entire look has been living rent-free in my brain (that Schiaparelli gown!), but her glam especially has me swooning. As Kidman stepped foot on the red carpet ahead of the Babygirl premiere, her strawberry blonde tresses looked effortlessly fluffy—like she just so happened to wake up with flawless waves. Adir Abergel, Kidman’s longtime hairstylist, dubs the creation “big sexy hair” with an emphasis on sky-high volume that appears minimal yet lasts all day. I might have watched his Instagram Reel upward of 16 times, and I might have done a little sleuthing to find out exactly what products he used.
It turns out he relied on a specific hair-thickening treatment to achieve Kidman’s swoon-worthy waves. Below, find Abergel’s entire “big sexy hair” tutorial from start to finish.
Virtue
Damage Reverse Hair Serum
To prep Kidman’s hair for heat, Abergel first applied Virtue’s Damage Reverse Serum generously through her lengths. “Damage Reverse” may sound a bit hyperbolic, but if there’s ever a product to actually resuscitate strands, it’s this Virtue formula. It contains a hair-identical protein to repair broken hair bonds—my own split ends appear nonexistent whenever I use it.
Virtue
Flourish Thickening Styling Treatment
Now, for the hero product: Virtue’s Flourish Thickening Styling Treatment. It’s a creamy styler (launched recently this summer!) that plumps each individual strand for long-lasting volume. Like most volumizing products, the formula has a slight tackiness to help the hair hold its new, lifted shape.
It’s wonderful for transforming fine, thin hair into a lush mane, but it’s also great for thicker-haired individuals looking to better control their style. I, for one, have denser strands prone to frizz and usually hesitate before using hair-thickening treatments; with this Virtue formula, my ‘do appears effortlessly tousled. Not to mention it provides extra heat protection up to 450°F.
Once Kidman’s hair was adequately prepped, Abergel parted her hair in the center and blow-dried with a large round brush for extra volume. Once he finished each section, he pin-curled it and let it cool completely, only unraveling once Kidman’s entire mane was fully dried.
Next, Abergel grabbed a two-inch curling iron and wrapped it around big sections of hair; this technique creates those signature loose bends he’s known for. Once Kidman’s full head was curled, he gave it a spritz with a light-hold hair spray.
Virtue
Hydrating Healing Hair Oil
Abergel finished off the look by warming Virtue’s Healing Oil in his palms before running it through Kidman’s strands to break up the precise bends. This, he says, is how he achieves that effortless, airy finish. (The oil also smells amazing, which is reason enough to snag the healthy hair hydrator.)
And there you have it—big, sexy hair with just three styling products (well, four if you count the hair spray). I thankfully have Virtue’s thickening treatment at home, so you can catch me re-creating Kidman’s look stat.
More Volumizing Stylers We Love
Dae products also have incredible scents; this wave spray makes my curls smell particularly yummy.
Rōz
Air Thickening Spray
If you know me, you know how I feel about Rōz products. Mara Roszak is the queen of effortless, undone waves, so rest assured you’ll be well-equipped with her line of haircare products and stylers.
Living Proof
Full Dry Volume and Texture Spray
My day-two hair is instantly revived after a spritz of this texturizing spray.
Briogeo
Style + Treat Hair Styling Volume Foam
I used to shy away from mousses and foams, but the new crop of hydrating formulas (such as this hair-enhancing formula) provides all the curl definition without the dreaded crunch.
Amika
Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray
Bombshell is just the right word to describe this texturizing spray; it’s practically a secret weapon for that dreamy ’90s bounce.
Oribe
Supershine Moisturizing Hair Cream
This is technically not a volumizing product, but I couldn’t help but include this shine-enhancing formula on the list. I use it every single time I blow-dry!
Color Wow
Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer
Here’s another mousse that changed my mind about mousses. It provides lift at the root without making my strands feel too “gritty.”
Fall is my favorite season to refresh my wardrobe. You gurls know that I’m always on the hunt for affordable finds that won’t break the bank, but there are a few items that I believe are worth the splurge if you can. Whether it’s that perfect cashmere sweater or a name-brand pair of boots, I’m a big fan of investing in a “few quality pieces” that will last me for several seasons. Today, I’m sharing my favorite fall items worth investing in for fall.
My Favorite Items Worth Investing In for Fall
Some of My Favorite Denim Brands to Splurge on:
I love rag & bone for their cool, effortless vibe that instantly elevates any outfit.
MOTHER jeans have become one of my go-to pairs for that perfect mix of comfort and style. They have the right amount of stretch and always fit like a dream.
I also can’t get enough jeans from PAIGE! This is one of my favorite pairs.
Boots
When it comes to fall, a good pair of boots is an absolute must-have in my book. Whether you’re into casual ankle booties or a pair of knee-high boots, investing in quality footwear can really pay off. A well-made pair can last you season after season instead of wearing down after a few months like a cheaper pair can. Plus, there’s something about slipping into a beautifully crafted boot that just makes me feel like I’m ready to take on the world.
Wedge booties are a comfortable way to get a little lift this season. This pair has a cushioned footbed and structured arch to keep your feet happy!
Cashmere
Cashmere is one of those luxuries I can’t resist when the weather starts to cool down. It’s soft, lightweight, and feels like a warm hug every time you put it on. Investing in a few good cashmere pieces is totally worth it because they’re so versatile—you can dress them up for a night out or throw one on with jeans for a cozy weekend look. Plus, with the right care, cashmere lasts for years, making it a timeless addition to your fall wardrobe. Trust me, once you try it, there’s no going back!
My Go-To Cashmere Pieces for Fall and Winter:
Coats
When the temperature drops, having a couple of go-to coats that you love can make all the difference in your fall and winter style. A well-made coat is the kind of piece that makes you feel put together, even if you’re just throwing it on over your everyday jeans and tee. Plus, a quality coat will last you for years if you take proper care of it, meaning it’s a piece you can enjoy season after season and year after year.
Coats I’m Loving for this Season:
I always recommend having at least one longer coat like this in your closet. This not only keeps your legs warm in the winter, but it looks much more polished over a dress for nicer events like a date or a wedding. It looks just as great over a pair of jeans and a top!
A lighter-weight, transitional jacket like this bomber jacket or this moto one is going to get you through those chilly fall mornings and nights when it’s not cold enough yet for a winter jacket.
Each time you share my posts on PINTEREST, INSTAGRAM, YOUTUBE, AND FACEBOOK, it not only helps other ladies who might be style-challenged find my blog, but it also strengthens our community. Furthermore, I appreciate every one of you and consider you a friend.

FashionNetwork.com has met Ba&sh, one of the top names in France’s affordable luxury segment, a label engaged in a plethora of initiatives in favour of sustainability. In this new episode of the LuxurynsightXFashionNetwork podcast series, Pierre-Arnaud Grenade, the womenswear label’s global CEO, discusses with Olivier Guyot the strategic transformation engineered by Ba&sh to become one of the stand-out premium labels on the market. Ba&sh is committed to a CSR strategy, exemplified by its recent B-Corp. certification, celebrated in the summer campaign entitled ‘Walk on the Bright Side’.
Parisian label Ba&sh was founded in 2003 by Sharon Krief and Barbara Boccara with Dan Arrouas and the Vog Group. It obtained B-Corp. certification in mid-June with a remarkable rating of 98 points out of 200 – the fashion industry average score is approximately 80 points. Ba&sh is an international brand that champions corporate action to change environmental and social practices in order to have a positive impact on the planet.
“[B-Corp. certification] isn’t a destination for us, but a prompt to go further,” said Grenade, underlining the “background work” undertaken by Ba&sh in the last seven years. The label’s “lodestar” is Californian brand Patagonia, a true inspiration in the industry, whose virtuous practices have earned it a record score of 166 points.
“Holistic approach to CSR”
Grenade mentioned that, in terms of social engagement, “[Ba&sh] has always been extremely committed to all women’s welfare causes,” notably the fight against breast cancer and violence against women. “We set up Fund & Action, an umbrella foundation for all our charitable initiatives. And in 2017, we started a second phase in which we focused on key elements such as [sustainable] materials, [our] carbon footprint, circularity, traceability and transparency,” he added.
“We have always advocated a very holistic approach to CSR,” said Grenade, pointing out that the label has also tackled these topics with its suppliers, which are directly involved in Ba&sh’s global transformation. To reduce its carbon footprint, Ba&sh joined the Fret 21 scheme in summer 2023, and to minimise water consumption and soil pollution at all stages of its supply chain, it began to fund three regenerative agriculture farms, and utilises sustainable denim-washing methods.
Ba&sh is a champion of ‘smart fashion’, and has been actively engaged in the field of innovation and new technologies for several years. “We’re relying heavily on an ecosystem of start-ups, like Fairly Made for traceability, Tilli for garment repairing and Faume for the second-hand market, and others. They have a range of innovative solutions, enabling us to save time,” said Grenade. Aptly, Ba&sh has an innovation committee within its board.
Grenade also underlined Ba&sh’s ambitious international expansion plans. The label began to internationalise in 2015, starting with Europe, and currently operates 60 stores in Asia and 40 in North America, regions where it is planning to open new experiential stores. Asia and North America are key markets where Ba&sh is building its image as a global brand, dropping “capsule collections of ad hoc products” alongside its main collections. Thanks to the consumer data it collects and AI solutions, Ba&sh is able to “adapt its range” to suit local markets.
Once in a while, an item comes along that quickly outpaces all others in desirability, and whether it’s a high street find or a design piece, subsequently becomes harder to track down than a Birkin. Fashion people sit with laptops and phones poised, refreshing the same tabs, waiting for the three little words to finally appear—back in stock.
To reach this kind of sartorial height is rare, calling for a unique combination of excellent design, elevated quality and enduring style that come together in perfect proportion to tip that piece from being wanted to being avidly hunted. And the COS Studio Bowling Bag is the latest piece to claim this status.
In recent years, fashion has seen a distinct shift towards timeless, understated, wearable designs, and this bag embraces all three elements. COS takes silhouette inspiration from the bowling bag, a sleek half-moon shape that boasts copious space whilst maintaining a refined appeal. Unlike the former style, the bag doesn’t gape open from end to end when opened but has leather panels concealed on each side, making the style much more practical in keeping all your internal treasures in place.
Whilst structured in look, there’s an ease to the bag that makes it slightly more malleable than a traditional formal tote. The relaxed nature brings an everyday feel, perfectly poised to be your companion for all occasions from office commutes to shopping trips or weekend strolls.
Every angle of the bag is understated. With a simple clip closure, lack of logo and simple stitching details on the bottom corners, which add to the premium appeal of the piece. Truly, if you didn’t know, you’d be hard-pressed to guess this was a bag from a beloved high street store. Currently, the bag is offered in a smooth black, or suede brown, both of which offer an enduring timeless appeal that makes either one a smart addition to any handbag collection.
The first release of this bag has sold out, but if you’re as enamoured as we are sign up for restock updates, and I’ll also let you know as soon as it’s back in stock.
