Happy Valley’s James Norton and star spark split rumours and unfollow each other | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

James Norton and his partner Imogen Poots are said to have called time on their romance after seven years together.

The Happy Valley actor, 38, has been on a press tour as he made a solo appearance at the Jamaica, London and LA film premieres of Bob Marley: One Love, where he played Island Records founder Chris Blackwell.

It has been claimed the couple split just before Christmas after “growing apart”, the Daily Mail reports. The pair have also unfollowed each other on Instagram.

They were last seen in public together in March 2023 when Imogen, 34, supported James on the opening night of A Little Life, the stage adaptation of the Hanya Yanagihara novel of the same name.

Express.co.uk have contacted James Norton and Imogen Poot’s representatives for comment.

James and Imogen met while performing in the Amy Herzog play Belleville at London’s Donmar Warehouse in 2017, and got engaged five years later.

They initially had a long-distance relationship (between New York and London), which she previously opened up about during an interview with The Evening Standard.

She said: “It’s all I’ve ever known. I’ve never known something to fall apart because of distance.”

“Sharing a bathroom, however, is quite another matter,” she added.

“I find work to be my happy place, in a way. Because it’s all I’ve ever known: packing up a bag and moving on,” the actress went on. “That restlessness that’s inherent in you is very addictive. And I suppose now I’m supposed to slow down and set up a farm or something.

“But I’m not ready to do that. I want to keep exploring the world.”

James did previously tell to the BBC that he was feeling “broody” in 2021 after he had been filming Nowhere Child, which centres around a single dad with a terminal illness.

At the time, he said: “I’m 35, I’m in a long-term relationship, my sister has two boys who are under three – the film really made me think about having children.”
