UK jazz figure Shabaka has shared his new EP ‘Possession’ in full.
The musician, composer, band leader, and producer is a key part of the UK jazz firmament, helping to push past expectations and establish a singular voice. Shabaka recently pivoted away from the saxophone – his long-time instrument – towards the flute, resulting in a huge shift in his work.
Recent album ‘Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace’ shone with invention, configured around a communal sense of music-making. Tapping into this same energy, new EP ‘Possession’ contains some notable guests, including fellow flute aficionado André 3000.
A beautifully rounded experience that feels like a complete creative realm in its own right, other guests on the release include Billy Woods, Elucid, Esperanza Spalding, Nduduzo Makhathini, Brandee Younger, Carlos Niño and Jason Moran.
Tune in now.
