I’m just not a waistcoat woman. I’ve tried it several times now, but no, a waistcoat is just not for me. And it’s not that I don’t like it. I’ve tried it here with trousers, here on a lovely leopard print skirt, that was to tight and I gave it away and now I can’t find a good replacement!, and now again on this dress. Which, by the way, I wore this way for The Thrifty Six. I actually really like the waistcoat on the leopard print skirt. But it is the feeling that wearing a waistcoat gives me. Does this sound very strange?
Why I don’t like a waistcoat
For me, I think it is even more important how clothes make me feel than how they look on me. Of course, if a piece of clothing makes me feel very happy, I always like it. That’s not to say that it actually looks good, just that I think it looks good. I’ve never actually been a fan of the waistcoat. I often wore ties when I was a teenager, becuase I do love a androgynous look. I also tried adding a waistcoat back then, but no, I didn’t like it then either.
And now again, I would really like a fur one, it looks so good on a dress! But I’m sure I won’t wear it anyway because I don’t feel it. How does a waistcoat make me feel then? I don’t think I can explain it very well, because after all it is a feeling. But I think it’s too masculine, without any coolness. Because I like ties, but they are cool. And I think a waistcoat is too alternative or something, and in a completely unstylish way. There’s nothing wrong with alternative, but I don’t feel comfortable in it.

Did I explane that in a way that you understand me? Probably not, haha. Anyway, I wanted to show you this look because on one side I like it but I know how it made me feel. The dress is viscose and fabulous to wear. It feels so soft and no ironing needed! The shop where they sold this brand is bankrupt. So many good shops close down here in Holland, such a shame.
I am wearing a gun metal cuff, can you remember my gun metal ankle boots, loved those! And a pre loved necklace. Which I don’t wear actually, because I am a whiner when t comes to pre loved jewelry or shoes. I mean clothes I can wash. But a necklace…..I always think that there is something of the previous owner left on it……shall I stop talking…..yes.
So have you got the same feel with waistcoats? That feel, that, I am not sure, feel. To masculine, to alternative. Or have you long time ago embraced the trend?
